Fundraising Activities

The Friends of the Blue Star Trail is a volunteer-run organization located in Casco Township, with a mission to promote the construction of an approximately 20-mile non-motorized paved trailway connecting South Haven to Saugatuck. Because the idea of the trail has captured the imagination of area residents who enjoy walking, hiking, cross-country skiing or biking, there are already dozens of residents from South Haven, Glenn, Douglas, Ganges and Saugatuck and Casco Township contributing their time, talent and financial resources to turn this plan into reality.

In addition to the Campaign for the Blue Star Trail, several fundraising events have taken place during the last couple of years. One of these is the annual quilt raffle, where a handmade quilt is sewn by a volunteer and donated to the Friends. Another event is the annual Lakeshore Harvest Ride, produced in cooperation with the City of South Haven and Lakeshore Harvest Country, Inc. The event features several bicycle routes that connect the lakeshore communities of Allegan County with farms that grow produce and with cider mills and wineries. The last couple of years approximately 300 riders registered for the bike tour.
