Who are Friends of the Blue Star Trail

Friends of the Blue Star Trail is an all volunteer organization located in Casco Township, Allegan County, Michigan. Its purpose is to assist area governmental units, the county parks department and the county road commission in the development of a proposed 20 mile recreation pathway. Our primary goal is to secure funding for local match money required to qualify for government grants that will be needed to complete the project. Current activities include:

  • Coordinating the completion of a feasibility study.
  • Preparation and submission of grant applications.
  • Organizing and conducting local fundraising efforts.
  • Establishment of an endowment fund.
  • Hosting of the annual LakeShore Harvest Country Bike Tour.

Since the Blue Star Trail will connect the communities of South Haven, Glen, Ganges Township, Douglas and Saugatuck, plus numerous neighborhoods and residential developments, and also provide a connection to the desirable destinations of the Casco Township Nature Preserve and the William Erby Smith Nature Conservancy, it will touch the lives of many people. Therefore, enthusiasm for its completion is growing as we await results of the feasibility study.
