Diversity, Equity, Inclusion,

and Accessibility Statement (DEIA)

At Friends of the Blue Star Trail, our mission is to enhance and sustain the Blue Star Trail for the benefit of all. We believe that achieving this goal requires a deep commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). As a mostly volunteer organization made up of dedicated local residents, we recognize that our strength lies in our diverse perspectives and experiences.

Diversity

We celebrate and embrace the rich diversity of our community, including race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socioeconomic status, disability, and more. We are committed to ensuring that our efforts reflect and respect this diversity, recognizing the importance of a variety of voices and viewpoints that contribute to the vitality of the Trail and the success of our initiatives.

Accessibility

We recognize the importance of making the Blue Star Trail accessible to all members of the community. This includes addressing physical accessibility challenges as well as ensuring that information and opportunities related to the Trail are available to everyone. We are committed to removing barriers and providing support to ensure that all individuals can enjoy and participate in our work.

Equity

We are dedicated to creating equitable opportunities for all individuals to participate in and benefit from our work. This means actively identifying and addressing barriers that may prevent some community members from using the Trail. We strive to ensure that our resources and efforts are distributed in a manner that supports fairness and justice for all.

Inclusion

We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. Our goal is to build a community around the Blue Star Trail that welcomes and supports individuals from all backgrounds. We actively seek input from diverse groups to ensure that our projects and activities are designed to meet the needs of everyone.

By integrating these DEIA principles into our work, we aim to enhance the Blue Star Trail as a resource that reflects the values and needs of our entire community. We are dedicated to continuous learning and improvement in these areas, and we welcome the input and collaboration of all who share our vision.

Together, we can create a Blue Star Trail that truly belongs to everyone.
